My Little Girl is Here!!

I guess I dont have much to do in the hospital but take pics of Taylor and edit them. I feel great and even better than the first time. Scott took Lexi to the park cause she was getting a little restless being cooped up in the hospital room. Scott has been such a great Dad. He has helped out with Lexi and even changed Taylor's first diaper (a poopie one) without even being asked. Since I am all alone right now eating this wonderful hospital lunch (I really do mean that, its great) I will tell you how things started.

I was dilated to a 4 Monday morning at my Drs appt but still not really having any contractions so he stripped my membranes and I went on my way. Tuesday I was not feeling that great. I made Scott come home from work and I started to feel better as the day went on. I had some contractions but nothing consistent or painful. I had always told Scott I would hate to have contractions in the middle of the night and have to go to the hospital. Well 4:30 am isnt exactly in the middle of the night so I guess it was ok. I started feeling pretty uncomfortable around then Wednesday morning. It was to uncomfortable to sleep so I just sat there and played on my iPod. About 5 am I started having contractions that actually hurt so I started to time them. They were very sparatic but I still wasnt able to sleep. Around 6 I decided to get in the shower, If I was going to go to the hospital I wanted to at least be clean. :) After my shower they started getting more intense and closer together. I told Scott we are going to the hospital call your Dad and have him come watch Lexi. When his Dad arrived we headed over. When I got there I was 5cm and 90%. I told them I had the Strep B infection so they wanted to get me started on medicine right away, for at least 4 hours. It was starting to get painful so I was able to have my epidural right away. Within about 15 mins I was pain free for the rest of the delivery.

Basically Scott and I just chilled for about 5 hours till the Dr came in and broke my water. He said I wasnt progressing that fast so he wanted to give me some Pitocin (medicine to increase the intensity of your contractions to help you dilate faster). The nurse left to help deliver a baby so about an hour later they started the Pitocin. I would say about 30 mins later I was 9 cm and feeling pressure. There were literally 6 babies born within an hour before me so I had to wait my turn. Once the Dr got back in the room with me it was time to push. I cant remember how long I pushed for but I think it was about 3 or 4 sets of contractions. The baby was posterior, meaning she was face up, she wasnt wanting to turn over so the Dr kept holding her in the correct position. Once she was out she had had the cord wrapped around her neck 3 times. I would say it was a very relaxed and casual delivery. The only crazy thing was my placenta ruptured away from my uterus causing blood to go every where and I mean everywhere.

We are so blessed and excited to have Taylor join our family. Its still hasnt set in that we are a family of 4 yet. She is such a great baby. She is relaxed and hardly ever cries just mainly sleeps. You always hear how can you love the second as much as the first but you find the room. I am growing to love her more every minute. We are going to be heading home tomorrow morning. I am so excited my Mom was able to change her flight and she is coming in tomorrow instead of 2 weeks from now. She helps me a great deal after having a baby. She just knows everything.

Lexi is adjusting but still isnt quite sure whats going on. Its been a big adjustment for her to be without her Mom and to see me in the hospital like this. She loves her little sister and always wants to touch her. I am sure they will be great friends.

  2. She is lovely! Glad you had a smooth delivery. I think I really lucked out with mine too. I heard a lot of horror stories that made me nervous but everything just went so well.
