Using my sewing machine...Crafts

Im finally getting around to blogging about all the things I have made with my wonderful Mother's Day gift from Scott. When my Mom came to help me with Taylor I had all these projects in mind and we literally sewed nonstop for 2 weeks. I am addicted now.

The first thing which I cant take to much credit for is this car seat canopy. My Mom did majority of the work but I helped with the prep work of it. This was before I learned how to sew. It turned out amazing. My Mom is so good. She even added the little bow for some flair and look how great the border turned out.

--------------------
Shoes, shoes, and more shoes. I have been wanting to make shoes ever since I saw them online. I bought a pattern off of etsy.com but since I had no idea what I was doing I had to wait for my mom to interpret the pattern. It took all day the first time to figure it out but now I cant bust them out in a few hours. Our first pair didnt turn out super great but it has only gotten better from there. I have even made my own pattern (the red shoes) from the one I bought. Taylor will soon have a pair of shoes for every outfit she has.

-----------------
This is my Nursing Cover. My Mom made this too. We found a free tutorial online and went from there. It works great when I want to feed Taylor in public or we have friends over. Also I just love, love this fabric.

--------------------
Burp cloths. I had seen a lot of people at church with these burp cloths so I decided to make some and when I mean some I mean 12. These are prefolded cloth diapers with a panel of fabric sewed down the middle. My Mom made the first few and then I sewed majority of the rest. Cloth diapers come in a pack of 12 so thats why we made so many. I am only showing 5 just cause a lot are dirty. But these are just great and they are really cute too. For a good tutorial on how to make them go here. They make great gifts as I will show you at the bottom.

Here is a opened one. My Mom came up with the great idea of putting a border on them with fabric and it makes them pop.

-------------------
Binky clips are so convenient. They clip to their clothes so the binky doesnt fall to the ground. We just browsed the website Etsy.com again and found some we liked and made them ourselves. These are so easy and make great gifts as well. This isnt exactly the best picture but Taylor is asleep with one so I couldnt show you several.

-----------------
Toy pouch for Lexi's crib. My Mom gets all the credit for this one. I had seen one online built into the bumper and I thought it was a great idea so I wanted to make one for Lexi when she wakes up she can play instead of wanting to get right out. My Mom made this from scratch without a pattern. What can I say she is the best.
Lexi loves it.

--------------------

My Mom also made 2 cute hooded towels for Lexi. She is so adorable in them. I didnt get a picture because its not bath time. They are so much easier to use.

--------------------
My friend Melinda is having a little boy soon and since I have this new found love for sewing I wanted to make her something. So I made her 3 burp cloths and a binky clip. I just love the striped fabric. I think I will probably make a few more things for her.

I hope more of my friends keep having kids so I have people to make stuff for or else I guess I will have to learn how to make clothes or maybe start selling this stuff.

Oh and anyone in Florida who wants any of this stuff I can get you in touch with my Mom.

  3. Such cute stuff! I love your taste in fabric. If I ever have a girl I am totally gonna try making some shoes, they are adorable! I think I will have to make a toy bag like that for our crib. Maybe it'll give me a chance to sleep past 5:30. Please please please...
