We were recently in Florida for Scotts brother Matts wedding. I stayed about a week and a half later to spend time with my family while Scott worked in Reno, NV. I had a lot of fun and it was great for my family to be able to spend a lot of time with Lexi since they hardly get to see her. The only thing I was dreading was how it would be on a 4 hour flight home with Lexi all by myself. Security was tough because I insisted on bringing my laptop even though Scott suggested it would be easier without it. So I have Lexi in one hand, taking my laptop out in another, emptying her diaper, taking off my shoes, and somehow I made it through. I grabbed all my stuff and headed over to a bench to get all packed back up. I have one of those harnesses that straps her to my chest so holding her in one hand I am trying to put this harness on with the other. I must have looked distraught because this older guy came over and asked me if I needed any help and I was like YES!!! With his help I was able to get Lexi securly strapped to me and I was on my way. Once I got everything all situated in my seat Lexi went right to sleep with the sound of the plane. The flight attendants came by with the first helping of snacks and drinks. I got a cookie and a water. I was drinking my water and must have fumbled it because it went all over my lap and Lexi. I was embarrassed to say the least. Some people jumped up to help me. Then Lexi of course had to have her diaper changed so here I am waiting in line to the bathroom with my pants soak and wet. I can only imagine what people thought. Suprisingly the rest of the flight was a piece of cake, she was a perfect angel and didnt even cry once. What I learned from this experience is that people are always willing to help you even if you dont ask for it.
Yesterday I met Scott for lunch at his work. We went and picked up food and came back to work and ate at their picnic tables. We were just eating and talking when I felt something wet on my arm. I looked at my arm and A BIRD HAD POOPED ON MY ARM. YUCK!!!! That was a first.
Now on to Lexi. Of course I cant write on my blog without saying something about her. This starts my writing where every sentence starts with SHE.
She has changed so much in these last few weeks. She has become a different baby. She is so smiley. There is nothing better than to look at your child and they give you the biggest smile. She has mastered rolling from her back to her belly in one day, now she does it all the time. Her hands are permantely attached to her feet. She is always grabbing them. She has found her voice big time. I have been saying HI to her a lot and she seems to be saying it back to me. Well atleast I think she does. She also reaches and grabs everything. I have to watch it now. We were in the store and I walked by someone and she reached out for a ladies hair but luckily missed. We bought her a walker and she loves it. She just sits in it and plays. The beginnings of crawling are starting. She started to scoot her knees up under her and sticks her bum in the air. She has started eating food. She loves bananas but is so-so on the applesauce. She loves apple juice. She will gulp it down in no time. The one thing I dont like is the waterworks that come from her mouth. She drools a ton. I just cant believe she is almost 5 months old. I believe I have mastered what all her cries mean and usually can tell whats wrong with her. This is such a fun age right now and am loving every minute of it.
